Membership Merchant Account
Finding a solid processor for the reliable and reasonably priced membership merchant account that your business needs so much is not exactly the easiest thing to do. Most big payment processors will not consider your application, before they’ve even seen your paperwork, because businesses in your industry have tended to generate high rates of customer disputes and chargebacks. And even the processors who might give you a merchant account would place a host of limits on things like your monthly volume and single transaction amount and your chargeback ratio will be watched as closely as anything. Even the slightest uptick might lead to the freeze of your merchant account.
Well, at UniBul we believe that every business is unique and should be judged on its own merits, irrespective of the industry it happens to operate in. Moreover, we specialize exclusively in servicing high-risk merchants — that is all we do! This focus has enabled us to build a solid and reliable payment processing solution for membership-based merchants, both domestic and international ones. And we are proud to say that our service just works! Contact us now and let us show you what we can do for you.
Before we begin the application process, we will explain in detail exactly what it is that we can do for you and on what terms. Often there are multiple options available, and if that is the case with you, we will break each one of them down and review their pluses and minuses, so that you can make a well-informed decision. Once we get going, your application will be processed swiftly and the set-up of your membership merchant account will be simple and straightforward. Most of the time, we wrap the process up within one to two weeks.
Who Do We Process Credit Cards For?
At UniBul, we have a solution for pretty much every merchant, as long as you are willing to work with us and do your part. Each set-up is unique, as it is determined by the interplay of a host of factors, such as processing volume and history, chargeback rate, terms of membership service, geographical location, TMF / MATCH placement, etc. Just to give one example, a U.S.-based business would in most cases be best suited for a U.S.-based membership merchant account. However, if the chargeback ratio is a bit too high or if the business is placed on the MATCH list, we will have to take it offshore. The possibilities are countless and can’t all be reviewed here, but the point is that each set-up is tailor-made to fit the individual applicant’s circumstances.
With that in mind, to enable us to create the optimal set-up for your business, we ask that you tell us all about your particular situation. Additionally, just let us know what you are hoping to get from us and we will do our best to make it happen. If, for example, you are looking for an additional membership merchant account, to be used concurrently with the one you already have, we are fine with it, provided we get enough of your processing volume to make it worth it.
UniBul’s Application Process
In order to begin the application process, we will need the following:
- UniBul’s application form. You can download the form here (this is a Word file). Just fill it out as thoroughly as you can, sign and initial and send it back to us, along with the documents listed below.
- Credit card statements with your existing or latest payment processor for the previous six months.
- Articles / Certificate of Incorporation or an equivalent document.
- A copy of the business owner’s national ID (a driver’s license or passport would do just fine).
- A copy of your business license.
- A voided check for the bank account where your payouts will be deposited; if unavailable, you can substitute with a bank letter, which shows your account details and is signed by a bank representative.
- Your three most recent bank statements.
- A copy of a utility bill — no older than 30 days of the date on which the application was signed.
That should get us going and may be enough to allow us to complete the application process. We may also need an additional document or an explanation of something or other and we’ll contact you if we do. So be ready to follow up should we ask for something else to help us go through the process as quickly as possible.
Credit Cards, Currencies and Payout
Over the years, we have developed a global network of acquiring banks, which allows us to offer to our clients acceptance of all major card brands, many smaller ones, as well as alternative payment options. Here are some of the supported card brands:
You will have the option of settling your transactions in a currency other than USD, if that is what your circumstances require. Here are some of your choices:
Your payout schedule will be decided upon the approval of your application. Our domestic, U.S.-based, membership merchant accounts usually get funded on a daily basis and international set-ups often require weekly funding.
TMF / MATCH List Considerations
If your latest payment processor placed your business on the TMF / MATCH list, be sure to ask for the reason. Actually, if your merchant account is shut down, you should always ask whether or not you were placed on the TMF / MATCH. They will tell you and we will need this information before we begin working on your application, as the set-up for such businesses is different than usual. Not knowing about the MATCH thing will not make it go away and will just slow us down unnecessarily, as it will inevitably pop up during the application review to tell us that we’ve been working on the wrong solution.
It is quite possible that the underwriting process will take longer than what would be the case with a non-MATCH set-up and there is a reason for it: Visa and MasterCard have special rules that regulate TMF merchant accounts and will penalize processors who don’t follow them. So we may ask you to provide some additional paperwork (an explanation of the TMF placement will be among them) or answer a question or two, but other than that, from your perspective, the process will be much the same.
Once your membership merchant account has been approved and set up, you can start accepting credit and debit cards once again, much as you did before the MATCH placement. You would need to remain on your guard, though, and ensure that you are using your new service in accordance with its terms and conditions. Your transaction activity will be closely monitored for the first few months to make sure everything is as it should be. So just keep it all well organized and you’ll be fine.
Why UniBul?
At UniBul, we understand how membership-based businesses work. Automation of the process is a must, but the key to continued profitability in your industry often depends on manual input: sending annual (or even monthly) reminders to your members, setting up back office operations to collect fees and devising accounting procedures consistent with Visa and MasterCard requirements or, which is more often the case, limitations. Then there is the prospecting of new members, which is often all about the management of an unending stream of mail and email communications and back-office information processing.
By partnering with UniBul, you will be getting a payment processing solution, which comes with:
- Recurring billing.
- Dynamic reporting.
- Prepaid indicators.
- Affluence indicators.
- Value-adding services.
At UniBul we are willing, able and can’t wait to set up your membership merchant account!
